Overview
What is through-wall sensing?
Through-wall sensing uses radio-frequency techniques, commonly radar, to detect people or movement behind walls, rubble or other non-metallic obstructions without entering the space.
How it is used
- Locating people trapped in collapsed structures during search and rescue
- Assessing a room before entry during public-safety operations
- Supporting disaster-response teams where visibility is limited
What to consider
- Performance depends heavily on wall material and thickness
- Operator training is essential for reliable interpretation
- Spectrum and licensing requirements must be checked for Malaysian use
TWZ's role
TWZ is exploring through-wall sensing for Malaysian search-and-rescue and public-safety requirements, including how systems can be evaluated, supported and brought into compliance locally.
Specifications, manufacturers and performance data are not published here. They depend on the requirement and are shared during engagement.
